Sterling Life Insurance
Situation
Sterling Life Insurance Company, offering the nation’s first Medicare Private Fee for Service Program, was looking for an outsource alternative to manage the kit production for their prospect fulfillment program. The original kit fulfillment system was completely manual. Kit requests were hand written, manually entered into Excel files, mail merged with Word files and then manually collated to completion. They also were anticipating to more than double their kit building capacity and knew they could no longer handle the program internally.
Challenge
Find a partner who could create and manage an online tool for data collection, consolidate print, inventory management, and mailing services, while automating the entire process.
BFC Response
BFC created an online data collection tool that automated the data collection process and automated the data processing function. BFC also provided a variable integrated card solution that eliminated the need to insert a sales business card into each kit that matched a corresponding letter. BFC created a variable kit, printed on demand as required by sales opportunities, thus eliminating the need to inventory all kit items. In those situations wherein inventory is necessary, BFC helped consolidate the need for multiple print vendors and assists with the management of inventory with their online management system.
Customer Response
With the newly automated program, BFC has helped process and mail more than 29,000 variable kits in a two month span. Traditionally, in that same time period, Sterling would have processed and shipped some 12,000 kits. With the proper management of inventory and the consolidation of print vendors, Sterling has realized a savings of more than 40% on print spend. The success of the program has Sterling planning to implement the complimenting Welcome Kit program, as well.
